Good morning (or whenever it is you’re reading this).

Lately, I’ve been a terrible writer. I have drafted approximately one poem, and I have yet to touch any prose for a few weeks now. I don’t know how many of you know this, but the qualifications for being a writer can be summed up as one bullet point on a very short list: one who writes.

So, in lieu of being actually productive, I thought I’d take this time to talk about some of my other projects. Currently, I just have the one publication, which I will discuss more in depth in a separate blog post. I am intermittently working on the next volume of poetry. As is the case with most of my ideas, I have the title long before completion of the actual text. The next volume will be called Nightmare Revisited. The poetry within that book will be about the nightmare of losing a loved one, the effects of certain medications on dreams, and the hyper-realistic nightmares I still have.

Another project that I have on the back burner is a cookbook. My mom was an excellent cook, and I have a lot of her recipes written down. What I would like to do is make a cookbook that also doubles as a memoir. If you’ve ever read Like Water for Chocolate, think of a non-fiction version of that and you’ll have a decent idea of what I’m going for.

As most of you don’t know, I also write fictional pieces. Some of those pieces are related to characters I play in Dungeons and Dragons (which is a game I highly recommend for help with character creation and world building). One of my favorites, un-related to that game, is called The Midlife Adventures of Magnolia Rose. Basically, it’s an invasive magic story involving a middle aged woman. I’ll make a separate blog post with a few snippets from that story at some point. I’ve only got about twenty or so pages written so far, but I’ve done a lot of outlining and I like where it’s going.

So, in summation, I’ve definitely flirted with creativity lately- I just haven’t been writing as much.
